Breakdown Harmonica

Harmonica-Jan2016005The University of Roehampton and the University of Surrey are collaborating on a research project entitled Breakdown Harmonica.

The project uses the dance work Harmonica Breakdown, choreographed by Jane Dudley in 1938, to assess the effectiveness of motion capture/3D visualisation as a method of capturing a dance work, in comparison to the established method of Laban Movement Analysis (Labananalysis and Labanotation). The project will also investigate how using the two methods in tandem can produce a useful method of studying choreography and dance composition.

The research team: Dr Jean Johnson-Jones (PI, Roehampton), Kirk Woolford (Co-I, Surrey), and Sheron Wrey (Research Associate and dancer).
